I think we could add some add-ons to the forums, just to get some interests from everyone out there.
Add-ons make the forum feel different and unique, rather than a standard posting forum.
The existing "Releases" thread posting method is quite cool imo.

Another example would be like vbPlaza.
I come across it quite several times elsewhere.
It'd be great if we could implement it here too.

Of course there are more nice add-ons out there, but I bet you already know them.

Is vbplaza a store/point system?

yep.. vbplaza is some kinda shop, where you get points by posting on specific sub forums etc, and shopping for customizing your nick or thread or whatever...
well.. you know more..

umm... I'm not sure what the point system should be implemented for.. get points to buy what?
I'll probably use a similar existing mod if people really want it.
